Mom: Don’t answer the phone. I heard on the radio that if you answer, the Democrats will steal your credit card number and charge it up for their campaign.
Me: I find that hard to believe, but you can prevent that by never giving your credit card number to anyone who calls you on the phone. That’s good advice, whoever’s calling.
Mom: The Democrats get your number, anyway. I don’t know how they do it, but the do.

If this were “identity theives,” it would be merely run-of-the-mill crazy. But Democrats? An organization whose fundraising is closely monitored to detect fraud/conflict of interest? That’s like saying “Don’t go into police stations, you might get mugged.”

Well, conflict of interest has a pretty narrow definition in the political world. What I meant was stuff like bribery for votes and that sort of thing; obviously no one stops them from taking huge campaign contributions from various lobbies.
